British politics is obsessed with a silly row over whether the Conservative policy of "recognising marriage in the tax system" is affordable. This is an idiotic question. Anything is affordable if you are willing to raise taxes elsewhere or borrow to fund it.

Windsor Liberal Democrats have launched a "Snowy Roads Survey" to build up a complete picture of what has been happening over the last few days. "Its essential we learn the lessons of this week, so that our Conservative council is better prepared for next time." says Windsor Lib Dem's Julian Tisi.
The Lib Dem campaign to stop Windsor Conservatives' creche cuts at the borough's leisure centres is gathering strength after the Conservative MP for Maidenhead broke ranks with her council colleagues and joined the Lib Dems in calling for the creches at Magnet and Windsor leisure centres to stay open.
