Windsor Lib Dems Select Julian Tisi as Parliamentary Candidate for the General Election
Liberal Democrats in Windsor have selected long-term campaigner Julian Tisi
as their parliamentary candidate
for the General Election on 12th December.
Julian stood as Windsor's Parliamentary Candidate in 2010 and again in 2017.
Commenting, Julian Tisi said:
"The Liberal Democrats are resurgent, both locally and nationally. We stand apart as an open, tolerant party in favour of fairness, opening opportunity and freedoms for all, underpinned by a strong, open economy. It's for this reason that members and now MPs are flocking to us from both the Labour and Conservatives which have both been taken over by their intolerant extreme wings."
Julian added "The Conservatives have no-one but themselves to blame for the mess the country is in because of Brexit. They've pursued the most extreme form of Brexit imaginable and appear utterly oblivious to the damage they're causing to our economy, our society and our way of life. The reality of Brexit is a world away from what they promised leavers back in 2016 but they refuse to allow voters to confirm if this is really what they want. Instead, they prorogued Parliament to avoid democratic scrutiny. I want to help take our country back from these extremists."
Congratulating Julian on his selection, Windsor Lib Dem councillor Karen Davies said
"Julian has campaigned for this area for years. He would be a tremendous, hard-working MP for Windsor."
Karen added "We're seeing a huge movement towards the Lib Dems both locally and nationally. We were just 1% away from coming top in the recent Euro elections in the Royal Borough, while in the local elections, we have established ourselves as the clear opposition to the Conservatives. In both, Labour came nowhere and can't win here. Our absent Conservative MP is out of touch and doesn't even conduct constituency surgeries. Windsor deserves better and I would like to invite other progressives to unite behind Julian as the best chance to unseat the Conservatives here."
Julian is a Chartered Accountant working as Finance Improvement Director for an energy company in Windsor. He is married with two young daughters and a son and has lived in or around Windsor for 17 years. He has been involved in numerous campaigns in this time, including:
-
Fighting to save Windsor fire services,

-
Opposing huge increases in councillor allowances,
-
Campaigning to keep services at Heatherwood Hospital,
-

-

Julian grew up in Essex and graduated in Politics and International Relations at The University of Reading, before training as a Chartered Accountant.
