Windsor Leisure Centre Creche Closes as part of Conservative Privatisation
The creche and the PlayZone facility at Windsor Leisure Centre will close on November 30.
The closure, the result of Conservative privatisation of the Royal Borough's Leisure Centres will see the creche, which has been running for 27 years, closed along with the PlayZone fun area to make way for a new private day nursery.
The current creche facility, which allows parents to use the gym, safe in the knowledge their children are being taken care of, will cease to exist - a move which make it hard for the parents of young children to use the Leisure Centre.
"We were promised by the Conservatives that the public wouldn't notice any difference when this privatisation occured - except for a change of uniforms.
However parents of young children will know the difference between a creche and a day nursery - even if Windsor's Conservative councillors don't."
said former Cabinet Member for Leisure, Richard Fagence.
Operation of the council's leisure centres was contracted out to private firm Parkwood Leisure last month so that sub-contractor Legacy Leisure taking over in January.

The creche at Windsor Leisure Centre and the PlayZone facility will be used for the last time on November 30.
Though the creche - which has been running for 27 years - will be replaced by the introduction of the New Windsor Club Day Nursery, the PlayZone fun area will go completely to make room for the nursery.
The creche staff will be transferred over to the new business which is due to open in January, according to a letter sent to service users seen by The Observer.
Plans are afoot for existing creche customers to have places made available onsite using alternative rooms until December 12, at which point the creche team will cease to operate on behalf of the centre.
