Windsor Fire Engine Unmanned once a Fortnight

The Lib Dems have been campaigning for the Fire Station for eight years

Windsor's Fire Engine has been unmanned on 21 occasions, roughly once a fortnight, over the past year.

A Freedom of Information Act request submitted to Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue by the local Liberal Democrats' Fire Station Campaign and submitted on 12th July asked:

"To know the dates in the past year when the Windsor Fire Appliance has been unmanned at night."

The response received as below on the 23rd July was as follows:

"I can advise you that between 12th July 2012 and 12th July 2013, the Windsor Appliance was off the run 21 times."

The local Liberal Democrats have questioned whether will be enough fire-fighters at Slough Fire Station to crew the Windsor appliance after its move to Slough in October.

"It's clear that the current arrangements do not provide enough fire-fighters to reliably crew the Windsor Fire Engine at night. It is difficult to see how this will improve when the fire engine moves to Slough and some of the current Windsor fire-fighters are re-deployed to Newbury." said local campaigner Julian Tisi
