Transport boss denies secret talks over town's roads

7 May 2009

THERE are no plans in the near future to change Windsor's road system according to the council's top transport boss.

Cllr Colin Rayner says he was 'mystified' after reports circulated that secret talks were taking place to alter the traffic flow in the High Street, Thames Street and River Street.

Suggestions have been made that the council are looking at allowing drivers from Datchet Road to turn left up Thames Street and into the High Street instead of taking the long route round but Cllr Rayner insisted it was very early days.

He added: "The council look at a lot of proposals and we will consider all suggestions but it is a very long process and there are no plans to make any changes at the moment."
