Tory leader steps down over bigamy charge
The leader of the Conservatives in Slough has stood down from the party after being charged with bigamy.
Pervez Choudhry, of Tuns Lane, Slough, is set to appear before Maidenhead Magistrates' Court on Monday.
He said: "I have stood down to clear my name."
Cllr Peter Dale-Gough will be acting leader.
Choudhry, 52, was arrested and charged with one count of bigamy on Monday and released on police bail.
