THREE data security breaches at the Royal Borough in 2013 and 2014 have been reported to the information watchdog, according to a council report due to be discussed at a council Employment Panel meeting tonight.

The paper reports 17 incidents were initially identified, but only three required passing on to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).The report adds: "Security incident resolution at RBWM generates step by step security improvement, and this has provided positive evidence for the ICO, and helped RBWM avoid significant financial sanctions."

The report details how more than 1,500 permanent staff and agency workers have been trained on data protection since the start of 2013 and a target of 50% of the council's workforce being aware of security policies has been achieved.
