Royal Borough Tories Record of Shame - Another £10k added to councillors' allowances bill.

The cost of councillors' allowances is set to rise another £10,335 a year after the Conservatives decided to promote another of their colleagues to "Cabinet" status.

Cllr Philip Love, who is styled, "Principal Member for Maidenhead Regeneration" will be the beneficiary of most of the increase.

Cllr Love's promotion follows the acrimonius removal of fellow Conservative, MJ Saunders as cabinet member for Planning & Maidenhead in August this year.

One of the first actions of the current Conservative leadership of the council on being elected to control the Royal Borough was to nearly double councillor's allowances.

The cost of councillors allowances reached a record high in 2012/2013 of £603,775.26.

Local Lib Dems have consistently called for a cut in these allowances to more reasonable levels.
