Police Condemn Conservative Attack

17 Apr 2009

Thames Valley Police chiefs in Windsor have hit out in the press at local Conservatives after they attacked the Police presence at the opening event of the Windsor Wheel 2009.

The Conservatives put a motion to council at the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead, attacking the Police response to a fight which occurred adjacent to the opening event of the Windsor Wheel 2009. The Conservatives had complained there were no Police at the event, however investigations by the Lib Dems so far suggest that the Conservatives may have failed to request a Police presence at the event.

The fight which involved the assault of a teenager by a gang of youths, in which several Conservative Councillors intervened, was reported to the Police who according to their records had two vehicles in attendance within eight minutes.

The Conservative Motion to Council praises their councillors for their intervention and criticises the lack of Police nearby in Windsor.

Police numbers nationally have of course risen significantly since the last Conservative Government left Office.
