Parking latest

IS Cllr [Colin] Rayner living on the same planet as the rest of us? Comments such as 'park and ride is some sort of 60s failed idea' are just utter rubbish.

Park and ride works well in various towns and cities throughout the UK, run by councils who have decided to do something about their parking problem and not just sit around talking endlessly about it. If you go further affield into Northern France you will find that they have excavated multi-storey car parks down into the chalk.

The centre of Windsor is sitting on chalk and indeed there are a couple of multi-storey car parks excavated down into the chalk. Unfortunately they are both in private hands and are not used to benefit the community. In my opinion, things will not improve until we get a park and ride off the M4. The land is actually sitting there doing nothing and I doubt anybody will object to its use in this way. I am talking about land south of the M4 and north of the Relief Road Eton arm.

Yes, I agree the town centre of Windsor was not built for the car and that's why it is very important to get rid of as much traffic as possible. This needs to be done before we become completely gridlocked.
