Old Windsor road death tragedy

2 Apr 2010

All parties must now work together to produce solutions to crossing the A308 Straight Road in Old Windsor following the recent tragic death of George Shacklady.

"Having previously lived down Church Road and regularly used this junction I'm really aware of how difficult this junction is. I visit this part of Old Windsor quite often still and share the views of correspondents to the press that increasing traffic volumes have made crossing Straight Road increasingly difficult." said local Lib Dem activist Richard Coe.

"With a prominent councillor and the constituency MP also having homes in this part of Old Windsor let us hope that effective steps can now be taken to help to safely link the two halves of Old Windsor - a village cut in half by this extremely busy road"

Although this junction has witnessed this accident, any review should consider the whole length of Straight Road and the other junctions along its length.
