Long-Awaited Review into RBWM Car Parking Machines is Released
Before his sudden departure, the then Leader of the Council, Cllr Dudley, promised a full review of the purchase and installation of the new parking machines, that cost us £750,000 and caused no end of issues for users, when they were installed this time last year. There were problems with uploading the Advantage card database and many residents found that their cards didn't work; the machines were too complicated and they couldn't access the expected discount.
Before I was elected, I spent many months lobbying the council over the poor state of the parking machines, as I battled with Victoria Street Car park every week. My desire for answers did not disappear after the election and I continued to ask for a review of the tendering and installation process. I was therefore pleased to hear that a full review would be undertaken and waited to see it...and waited... and waited. Occasionally, residents would ask how it was going and I would fire off an email asking for an update, only to have more radio silence. I also asked for the parking machines to be included on the agenda of Windsor Town Forum- still nothing.
Today I happened to see a Facebook comment from Councillor Price mentioning that she had seen that the report was online and had been published in July 2019! Indeed, I chased officers earlier this week and the reply was that it had been completed but 'we don't know what happened to it'.
So here is the report, in full. It's been a busier day than I anticipated and I had a three hour dial-in budget briefing with my fellow opposition councillors and MD Duncan Sharkey this evening (that's a post for another day!), so I haven't had a chance to to summarise it
Please do get in touch, via our Facebook page or email cllr.tisi@rbwm.gov.uk if you'd like to discuss parking or other issues.
