Liberal Democrats across the Royal Borough are mourning the passing of Mary-Rose Gliksten, who died on 22nd May at Kelso in Scotland aged 75.

Mary Rose was the last Liberal Democrat leader of the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead and at various times former councillor for the former Clewer East and former Castle Wards.

Mary Rose was a strong Liberal Democrat and in typical fashion dedicated herself to helping the community, standing up for those whose voices were not always heard and never afraid to stand up for the views and values she held most dear.

Upon leaving the council in 2007 Mary Rose Gliksten retired to Scotland to be nearer to her family.

Former Mayor of Windsor & Maidenhead, Kathy Newbound said of Mary Rose,

"She was a real inspiration and her courage and Liberal values improved the lives of so many people. She dedicated many years to the community of Windsor & Maidenhead working constantly to make their lives better. I am truly grateful for her leadership and support over many years."
