20 Jul 2009

Liberal Democrat Councillors at the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead have called on the council to improve the car parking experience for visitors as part of a move to help keep the Borough's Town Centres alive through the recession.

In a recession the borough needs to make an extra effort to get people into its town centres.Improving the car parking experience is just one such effort

Lib Dem Leader, Cllr Simon Werner said,

"At the June meeting of the council the Lib Dems put forward a three point plan to make car parking better by:

reducing short term parking costs to make it more affordable.

improving the cleanliness of car parks, particularly in the stairwells, through better deployment of cleaning staff

ensuring that the equipment works to its specified standard all the time by having speedy repairs to lifts and other equipment when it fails to function."

The Lib Dem plan was unanimously accepted by the council, which has started work on it.
