Labour and Conservative Candidates refuse to say where they stand on Heathrow
Speaking in a live BBC Radio Berkshire debate, Labour's candidate for Windsor would not say whether or not she supported the expansion plans at Heathrow.
While the Conservative Candidate expressed the hope that the Airports Commission, set up by the Conservatives to manage their deep internal divisions on Heathrow, would come to a sensible conclusion.
Lib Dem George Fussey said he was opposed to expansion, making him the only candidate from the main parties who was unequivocal on the issue.
Mr Fussey said: "The Lib Dems are implacably opposed to an extra runway. We don't want an extra 260,000 flights from Heathrow, we don't want an extra 50 million visitors flying from Heathrow, we don't want the congestion it's going to create, the disruption the build is going to create and we don't want the pollution.
"The jobs are important for the economy but they could be created somewhere else. We don't think it's sustainable, environmentally."
