Julian Tisi chosen as Parliamentary Candidate
The Liberal Democrats have selected long-term local campaigner, Julian Tisi, as their parliamentary candidate for the forthcoming General Election on 8th June.
Julian has been involved in numerous campaigns in Windsor over the past 15 years, including:
-
Four Lib Dem campaigns to save fire services in Windsor
-
Campaigning to save vital local bus services
-
Opposing the Conservatives' huge 98% increases in councillor allowances at the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead
-
Campaigning to keep services at Heatherwood Hospital
-
Campaigning against Heathrow's third runway
-
Successfully stopping a multi-storey car park being built at Alexandra Gardens
-
Campaigning to improve armed forces housing
He previously stood as Windsor's Parliamentary Candidate in 2010, achieving a strong second place and establishing the Lib Dems as the clear challengers to the Conservatives.
Congratulating him, 2015 candidate George Fussey said,
"I wholeheartedly endorse Julian as our candidate and I wish him well. He would be a tremendous MP for Windsor."
Julian is standing on a platform of providing genuine opposition to the Conservatives and believes that the key issue at this election will be Brexit and the pervasive effect it will have on jobs, taxes and funding for the NHS and education.
Commenting, Julian Tisi said:
"I am dismayed that the Conservatives have chosen a truly destructive Brexit which will do serious damage to our economy. I am worried by the over-optimism of some, including our own MP, about the uncertain outcome of EU negotiations. And I am saddened by the poisonous attitude which the Brexit vote has unleashed, particularly the way that genuine concern is treated as dissent. It's clear that the Conservatives need a strong opposition to hold them to account. Corbyn's Labour Party simply isn't up to the task, so it has to be the Liberal Democrats."
Julian is a Chartered Accountant working as a Control Assurance Director for an energy company in Windsor. He is married with two young daughters and has lived in or around Windsor for 15 years.
Julian grew up in Essex and graduated in Politics and International Relations at Reading University, before training as a Chartered Accountant. He is a member of Liberty, the Electoral Reform Society, Windsor for EU and his local parish pastoral council. Outside of work, politics and family life, Julian has a passion for choral singing.
