Fire at Windsor Castle

Windsor Fire Engine
Windsor's Fire Engine has been relocated to Slough and reduced to a 4 man crew.

A fire broke out within an air conditioning system at Windsor Castle last week.

The incident which occured on Thursday 2nd January 2014 at 20-02 hours caused damage to the air conditioning system itself, and spread a significant amount of smoke around the affected building.

The opportunity for potential fire spread within this historic building was reflected by the Fire Brigade's attendance which involved appliances from Slough and Langley, plus a specialist vehicle from Reading and an aerial appliance from Hayes (London Fire Brigade).

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue recently closed Windsor Fire Station and scrapped their own aerial appliance, which had been based in Slough.
