Despite being as busy as ever, Windsor Fire Station is due to shut in October

Dry weather caused a massive blaze on wasteland off Mill Place in Datchet on Monday.

Firefighters from Windsor and Slough went to the scene at 3pm after reports from staff at the nearby pumping station that pallets and tree cuttings had gone up in flames

The fire was brought under control within two hours but a team returning to check on the situation found it had flared up again and it was finally made safe about 8.30pm.
