Seven years ago the Lib Dems stopped £67million Conservative plans to knock down the Town Hall and build a new HQ. Now the Lib Dems want to bring Council buildings into the 21st century with a range of environment saving initiatives.

Council Conservatives filibustered Liberal Democrat attempts to get the council to take urgent action on the environment at the council this Wednesday, September 28th.

By asking time wasting questions of themselves to score petty party political points the Conservatives prevented the Council adopting the Lib Dem motion. The Lib Dems were calling for the council to move forward swiftly towards generating renewable energy on its offices, schools, leisure centres and other property, the Conservatives decided instead to waste time so the motion could not be discussed.

Local Lib Dems have called on the local Conservatives to either put their money where their mouth is on climate change or to openly admit that they are at war with David Cameron's green agenda.
