Conservatives at the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead are not prepared to have new trains on the Windsor - Waterloo Route unless they have First Class compartments.

A Conservative motion put to the Royal Borough of Windsor And Maidenhead Council on 21st April called for new Trains on the route with better access for passengers with limited mobility, working toilets and First Class carriages.

A Lib Dem amendment suggesting that residents might actually prefer to have new trains with toilets and easy access, without first class, if it meant that the new trains arrived sooner was rejected by the Conservatives, who were insistent that the class divide was essential.

Local Lib Dems believe that replacing worn out old trains with modern rolling stock should take priority over preserving old class divisions.
