Antony Wood on Night Patrol with Windsor Police in Dedworth

Prospective Parliamentary Candidate and local councillor, Antony Wood, took a hands-on approach to crime prevention on Saturday night, walking the beat with Police in Dedworth, part of which is in his Clewer South Ward. The local Councillor joined Officers WPC Christina Beringer and Sergeant Andy Fenton as they dealt with several incidents during the night.

"I myself know that many residents live in fear of crime. That's why the Liberal Democrats would put more than 10,000 extra police where they are needed most not filling out forms but pounding the beat, where people can see them," said Mr. Wood.

"What struck me most about that night in Dedworth was the number of young people who were just hanging around in the rain or in bus shelters on what was a cold and miserable night. I know that people find this sort of behaviour very intimidating and the Liberal Democrats therefore support Anti-Social Behaviour Orders as they help combat this problem. However, punishment is only half the solution and finding more activities for young people, perhaps by keeping the Youth Club open more often, would benefit both residents and teenagers. I know finding the money in the coming year will be difficult but I want to look into this," said Mr. Wood.
