Last week Antony Wood, the Lib Dem Prospective Parliamentary Candidate, campaigned in Windsor Town to try and prevent the proposed closure of the St Leonards Road and Dedworth Road Post Offices. At a Council meeting on Tuesday he continued this opposition by seconding a motion from Cllr Jeremy Hyde (Liberal Democrat) calling for these closures to be stopped.

Antony Wood maintained his campaign to extend the availability of postal services in the Borough today (Wednesday), by visiting the re-opened Post Office in Sunninghill. The Post Office, which had faced permanent closure, will now be opening for a trail period.

The Royal Mail has stated that the decision over whether to permanently re-open the Sunninghill branch is pending and rests on whether a long term postmaster can be found. "I firmly believe that re-opening this Post Office will make life easier for the public. I will be campaigning with local residents to make sure it stays open," said Cllr. Wood.

"Ultimately, the decision as to whether or not these Post Offices remain open rests with those who live nearby. I urge people to make use of these branches for paying bills, savings and other services to help keep are important Post Offices alive."
