2% hike in police precept agreed
THE amount taxpayers pay for policing looks set to go up by 2%
after the Thames Valley Police and Crime Panel endorsed the proposal by Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner Anthony Stansfeld.
The panel agreed the increase on Friday last week with a caveat that should the Government's council tax referendum threshold be lower than 2%, the precept should also be lowered to the same level, with the shortfall to be funded from Thames Valley Police reserves and the surplus in council tax collection rates for 2013/14.
This financial year households in Band D paid £157.38 for the police precept annually, which was also a 2% increase on the previous year.
