Demand Better - Parking

Residents' frustrations with parking have soared as ticket machines continue to refuse to give advantage card discounts, even after the Conservative council spent £750,000 on new machines to solve the problem.

"We've been promised for months that the problem would be solved when the new machines were
installed, but residents are still paying more than they should, because the machines still don't
work properly," says local community activist, Amy Tisi.

Meanwhile, lack of parking in Windsor is putting a huge amount of pressure on residential roads near the town centre, for which the residents' parking schemes are only a partial solution.

"Victoria Street Car Park is too small to cope with the number of people who want to use it. I often turn up to shop in Windsor and cannot find a space in the Victoria Street car park. I'm also concerned about the lack of accessible parking places for blue badge holders," says Amy Tisi.

With offices and flats being built around Windsor, without adequate parking even more strain is going to be put on our residential roads.

Karen Davies adds, "At night in central Windsor there are lots of empty private car parks while residents cannot find anywhere safe to park. We'd like to see the Council negotiate to use these private car parks, as this could reduce the demand for on street parking massively."

Amy Tisi says, "Maidenhead's getting a large new car park, that's great - but why is Windsor left out yet again?"
