Borough's Roads Go to Pot

February 17, 2009 12:24 AM

Let the Lib Dem Team know about any Pot Holes

Local Lib Dems were amazed to learn that under the Conservatives the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead has stated that it is running out of money to fix potholes.

Cllr Simon Werner, Lib Dem Group Leader, said,

"In every budget the Tories claim that only with them, are the Borough's roads maintained to the standard they should be. It is amazing that after just a few days of snow, the money to repair potholes is exhausted."

Having to fill 150 potholes a week due to the recent adverse weather is proving to be too costly for the Tory budget to maintain. Under the previous Lib Dem administration the Borough's main roads were praised as amongst the best maintained in the country.

Cllr Simon Werner added "This shows what happens when you nearly double councillors allowances as the Tories have. There is not enough money to do things which most people think are essential. How can drivers, cyclists and pedestrians cope with holes in the roads?"
