The Lib Dems are fully committed to Crossrail. The Conservatives refuse to say what they will do until after the election.

Transport Investment into the Royal Borough would be under threat from a future Conservative Government according to the Guardian newspaper. The paper reported that Justine Greening, the shadow London minister, told London's LBC radio that she "cannot guarantee" that the building of the £16bn Crossrail scheme.

When Ms Greening was asked if the project could be scrapped altogether, she replied: "It's possible, but at the end of the day we've always said that we think it's an important project and actually the reason this is important is we want to be responsible, so we can't pretend that we can write an entire budget outside of government. We've said we'll do one within 50 days of getting into government if we get elected and we will then provide some clarity and certainty."

Speaking locally Lib Dem Candidate for Windsor Julian Tisi said

"The electorate will be confused - are the Conservatives planning to cancel Crossrail or not? This is a vital project for Windsor & Maidenhead and we now need a firm policy from the Conservatives either one way or the other on Crossrail.

"The Lib Dems are clear - we fully support Crossrail."
