Lib Dem Susan Kramer, MP has reacted with outrage at reports that the Government spied on Heathrow protesters.
It was reported at the weekend that Department for Transport officials prepared dossiers of opponents of Heathrow expansion and handed them to the police.
Susan Kramer MP said:
"The Government is simply using the law to intimidate those who oppose its policies. It is clear that they will go to any lengths to try and smother dissent on Heathrow.
"In replying to the Heathrow consultation I took the step, on the advice of the Richmond Society, to require my identity to remain confidential. I will be extremely interested to find out if this has been breached.
"At every protest I attend, there are police filming and taking photographs of legitimate protesters.
"The police and the Government are very well aware that this is intimidating and threatening, and has nothing to do with protesters posing any kind of threat."
