THE long-awaited trial into vote-rigging in Slough has been hit by a delay.

Former deputy mayor Mohammed Aziz and ex Tory cllr Eshaq Khan's hearing was due to start on Monday at Reading Crown Court.

However, evidence has not yet been heard as the jury has not yet been sworn in.

The trial is expected to last at least eight-weeks but has been delayed following legal complications in selecting jury members.

The Tory duo, who previously pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to defraud, will appear in the dock alongside six other Slough men who also face various fraud charges.

Khan, 51, of Oban Court, Chalvey was perviously found guilty by a special election court for vote-rigging in the Central ward at Slough's May 2007 local elections.
