Students give up lunch hour to hear Lib Dem Message

Around sixty 6th Formers for Windsor Boy's School gave up their lunch hour to attend a political seminar given by Prospective Parliamentary Candidate Antony Wood on the topic 'This house believes that the Liberal Democrats have nothing to offer young people'.
Antony Wood, who is also RBWM Councillor for Clewer South, started his session by offering a fresh doughnut as a prize for the student who could most accurately put a pin in the map showing where Sadam Hussain would have hidden his Weapons of Mass Destruction if he had had any!
"I wanted to talk about the issues rather than making a politically charged speech. But I also wanted to talk about Liberal Democrat policy on things which currently concern young people such as abolishing tuition fees; the opposing the Iraq War; working for a greener planet and reducing the voting age to sixteen," said Mr. Wood. "I wanted our session together to be a piece of education," he said.
Mr. Wood also responded to some tough questions on topics as varied as the competitiveness of British Industry and Council Tax but reminded his audience that a recent opinion poll had shown that 47% of students would now vote Liberal Democrat.
"This event is a poke in the eye for anybody who believes that young people have no interest in politics. It's time for the Government to stop ignoring youth issues and wake up to the fact that 18-25 year olds will be a force to be reckoned with in the next general election." Antony Wood concluded.
