Could the Leicester by-election result happen in the Windsor Constituency?

July 22, 2004 1:09 PM
By Antony Wood

Windsor Prospective Parliamentary Candidate Antony Wood did his bit to aid his party in the Leicester South by-election last week. He was one of a team of Windsor activists who campaigned in the constituency, delivering thousands of leaflets and travelling over 500 miles in the process.

"Turning a 'safe' seat like Leicester South to your colours takes effort, determination and belief," said Mr. Wood. "The Liberal Democrats won because we have a clear vision about the future of this Country. That is what brought thousands of Liberal Democrat activists to Leicester."

The swing in Leicester to the Liberal Democrats was 27%, whilst the swing we need to win in Windsor is about 11%. Admittedly the contest in this Constituency is different as it is only between the Tories and ourselves. However the point about Leicester is that swings of 11% are quite possible. Currently the electorate is not happy with the government nor does it see the Conservatives as a viable alternative.

I look forward to putting the Leicester spirit to work in the Windsor constituency!"
